State-of-the-Art Lighting Others Can’t Do

Landscape lighting doubles the usable hours of your outdoor space and transforms the entire mood of your property after dark. But there is a massive difference between the brass path lights and cheap LED strips that most contractors install and the architectural lighting systems we design. Red Agave specializes in WLED (White LED) and FCOB (Flip Chip on Board) technology — the latest generation of landscape lighting that produces a continuous, dot-free, warm glow that is invisible during the day and stunning at night.

FCOB lighting eliminates the individual LED dot pattern that plagues standard strip lights. Instead of seeing individual points of light, you see a smooth, unbroken ribbon of warm white glow. We integrate FCOB strips into steel planter caps, under pergola beams, along seating wall edges, beneath stair treads, and inside steel edging channels — all hidden from view during the day. The light source is never visible. You only see the effect: walls that glow, steps that float, planters that radiate warmth, and trees washed in soft amber from concealed ground fixtures.

Every lighting system is designed with dimmable drivers, zoned circuits, and smart controls so you can adjust intensity and scene by zone. Warm white (2700K–3000K) is our standard — it flatters stone, wood, and plant material without the cold, clinical look of higher-temperature LEDs. We use only marine-grade, IP67-rated fixtures and connections designed for outdoor exposure in Austin’s heat, humidity, and UV conditions. Pair lighting with a custom pergola or outdoor kitchen for the full outdoor living experience. Schedule a free consultation to design your lighting plan.

Common Questions

Lighting FAQ

What is FCOB lighting and how is it different?
FCOB (Flip Chip on Board) is the latest LED technology where tiny chips are mounted directly on a flexible substrate with a phosphor coating, producing a continuous, dot-free ribbon of light. Standard LED strip lights show individual dots of light separated by dark gaps. FCOB eliminates those gaps entirely, creating a smooth, uniform glow that looks like a line of light rather than a string of dots. The result is dramatically more refined and architectural.
How much does landscape lighting cost in Austin?
Professional landscape lighting systems in Austin typically range from $3,500 to $15,000+ depending on the number of fixtures, zones, and integration complexity. A focused lighting package for a patio and walkway runs $3,500 to $6,000. A comprehensive system lighting a full backyard with pergola, planters, trees, pathways, and hardscape runs $8,000 to $15,000+. We design lighting as part of complete landscape projects or as standalone upgrades to existing landscapes.
Can you add lighting to an existing landscape?
Yes. Lighting is one of the easiest upgrades to retrofit into an existing landscape. Low-voltage wiring can be run through planting beds, along hardscape edges, and through conduit without major disruption. We assess existing electrical capacity, design a lighting plan that highlights your landscape’s best features, and install with minimal disturbance to established plantings and hardscape.
